Splinting Workshops
Basic Splinting Course Curriculum Includes the Orthopedic Allied Professional - Emergency Department, OAP-ED Splinting Certification exam.

This 3.5 hour program cover upper extremity splinting to include short arm, thumb spica, ulnar gutter, long arm and sugar tong. Lower extremity includes short leg posterior splint. The curriculum can be changed to meet the needs of the facility.
Students are taught patient care techniques that will improve patient splinting outcomes and result in a more efficient ED with less patient return visits for splint problems.
The workshop is free to the facility when 10 staff members join ASOP as new members. Current ASOP active members of the facility can attend at no charge. The facility provides all splinting supplies. There may also be a charge for travel expenses for the instructor.
ASOP provides the instructor, contining education hours and the OAP-ED certification exam and exam study materials.
